The long awaited Parnell Music Festival is happening this Saturday, June 16th! It's a FREE outdoor concert featuring Hard Barney, Electric Shock, Head East, and the boys from the mean street of Cedar Rapids, Slap 'N' Tickle!

Head Tickler Curt Burges told me, "We can't wait to play the festival. We're breaking our 'Parnell cherry' on the big stage! I just hope they have enough booze." His band is know for their debauchery and heavy drinking before, during, and after a Slap performance.

Bass player Jeff Woods told me, "The band has never sounded better! We have a few surprises in store for the crowd this Saturday." Woods also noted he will be unveiling some new leopard skin stage pants at the festival.

If you're wondering, Slap 'N' Tickle will be playing the Parnell Music Festival from 5-7:30 p.m. A festival organizer told KRNA, "We needed to start them early. If we wait to long, the entire band would most likely be hammered. We couldn't risk it."

Head East is your headliner, starting at 10 p.m. The show is absolutely FREE, courtesy of he following sponsors:

  • Green Top Lawn Care and Landscaping
  • Jones Automotive
  • Capper Auto Group
  • Wieser Precast

Again, if you want to see the boys in Slap 'N' Tickle, they start at 5 p.m. SNT sound engineer Mike McMeins told me, "It's an early start for the band. They normally play in the evening and stay up all night drinking. This will be a fun change, I'll make sure they are ready to go." Besides running the soundboard, McMeins will also have the job of lathering up the band with sunscreen before the performance.

I'm excited! A free show in the middle of Iowa on a hot Saturday night....what could be any better!
