If your child dreams of being in a band, there's a new place in Marion can help that dream come true!

The new School of Rock location held their grand opening event yesterday at 710 10th Street in Marion. The new facility offers lessons for guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard/piano, and singing, but they're a little bit different than your average music lessons. According to the official website,

Every instructor at School of Rock Cedar Rapids/Marion is an experienced musician, and they emphasize foundational music theory and technique when teaching guitar lessons to kids. Unlike other Marion guitar lessons and programs, School of Rock is designed to get students performing in a band.

School of Rock combines private lessons with group performances and offers various programs for all different ages and experience levels. Most of the programs are aimed at kids, like the "Little Wing" program for ages 3 to 5, the "Rookies" program for ages 6 to 7, and "Rock 101" for ages 8 to 13, but there is also an adult program for ages 18 and up. All ages have the opportunity to learn an instrument with no prior experience or add on to the skills they already have. In addition to in-person classes, online classes are also available!

School of Rock still doesn't have any hours listed online, but you can check out a full list of their programs and get more information about setting up lessons for you or your child HERE. You can also contact them via phone at 319-450-7625 or via email at cedarrapidsmarion@schoolofrock.com.
