President Trump on Thursday said that if the World Series goes to a fifth game, he'll attend the contest between the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros. That game is scheduled for Sunday in the nation's capital. Washington leads the best of seven series two games to none.

The President is no stranger to baseball. He played high school baseball at New York Military Academy and has thrown out ceremonial first pitches at major league games in the past. He is a rabid Yankees fan and before becoming president could be seen taking in games in the owner's box at Yankee Stadium.

President Trump welcomed the Astros to the White House after they won the World Series in 2017. He noted their victory was even more special following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey on the city. Perhaps the most surprising part of this story is the fact that President Trump would become the first sitting president since George W. Bush to throw out a pitch in a World Series game. No one will ever forget that first pitch back in 2001. Just weeks after the attack of 9/11, President Bush's appearance was a reassurance that if baseball could go on, we all could.
