Two Former Cedar Rapids Kernels Are Playing in the World Series
Game 3 of the Major League Baseball World Series takes place Friday night.
The Washington Nationals currently hold a 2-game lead in the series over the Houston Astros, and two of their players are familiar to Cedar Rapids Kernels fans.
Howie Kendrick played second base for the Kernels in 2004 but left a big impression on the team in his short time here. Jessica Fergesen is the senior director for corporate sales and marketing for the Kernels and her first year with the organization was the same year Kendrick was here.
She tells CBS2, she's not surprised by his success, saying "obviously he's a very good baseball player, but he's a terrific person".
The storyline continues as Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin starts Game 4 Saturday night. Corbin played for the Kernels in 2010. This is the Nationals' first-ever trip to the World Series. We'll be proud to keep cheering them on this weekend.
The next game is this Friday night, October 25th at 7 p.m. on Fox 28.
