Popular Cedar Rapids Restaurant/Bar Prepares to Reopen After More Than a Year
The Cedar Rapids restaurant landscape is changing as two find new locations, one after being closed for more than 12 months.
Several weeks ago, it was announced that The Field House would be moving to a new, smaller location in the former home of Genghis Grill at 5001 1st Avenue Southeast. The Field House's former home on Blairs Ferry Road, which previously housed restaurants like The Tilted Kilt and North Country Steakhouse, will be getting a new resident.
The Chrome Horse Saloon will be relocating to 1140 Blairs Ferry Road NE. The restaurant and bar had been located in the booming NewBo district for just over 10 years, until an overnight fire the morning of July 23, 2014. The building that formerly housed the Chrome Horse Saloon, located across 12th Avenue SE from the NewBo City Market, will be known as 'The National.' Plans for the upper floor of that building are for a live music venue and the building's owners are talking with possible tenants for the remaining space.
There's currently no word on when either The Field House or The Chrome Horse will open in their new locations.
