An Iowa man has been charged with First Degree Murder in the weekend death of one of his relatives.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call at about 4:25 p.m. Saturday afternoon that a man had been shot at a home in the 200 block of South Ontario Street in Pomeroy.

The Pomeroy Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputies, and Calhoun County EMS all responded. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the chest. Life-saving measures were taken but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 59-year-old Anthony Hinners. His body was sent to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

At the request of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted. After consulting with the Calhoun County Attorney's Office, 66-year-old Michael Hinners (photo above) was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, a Class A felony. He was booked into the Carroll County Jail in Carroll, Iowa just before 8 p.m. Saturday night.

Anthony and Michael Hinners were brothers. The two have 12 other siblings.
