True Iowans know that spring is one of the best times of year to live in the Hawkeye State.

Now that we are all slowly defrosting we can get out and enjoy the amazing hiking and biking trails and bask in the sun while enjoying a local town festival.

While we may know how great springtime is here in Iowa, not everyone else in the country probably gets it.

Until now...

A recent list came out that determined the most beautiful springtime destinations in America that travelers NEED to visit. One of the towns on this list is located in Iowa.

Before we do the big reveal, do you have any guesses on what place it could be?

How Did Experts Determine These Ideal Spring Travel Spots?

According to Thrillist, the main component that helped decide the towns and areas on this list was color. Of course we are all familiar with the colors of fall, the colors changing on the trees.

Each of these places offers, "a healthy dose of wildflowers, the promise of birds and breezes, and a serious detox from those winter blues."

And when you think of that bright spring color here in the Hawkeye State, there's really only one place that immediately comes to mind...

...Pella.

Pella Is the Perfect Spring Travel Destination

Pella, Iowa is the ideal spring spot.

This town was founded in 1847 by a slew of immigrants who came out to Marion County from the Netherlands, according to the Pella Historical Museums.

Many of the descendants of these original immigrants still live in this beautiful town of 10,000 residents. They continue to celebrate their 177 year history by maintaining mementos of that Dutch culture through their Historical Village and Windmill as well as the Scholte House.

But the cherry on top for this town and the thing that makes it a great place to visit in the spring is Pella's tulip festival.

Tulip Time

This is both a celebration of Dutch culture and the tulips in full bloom in the spring.

Tulip Time is a three day festival that takes place on May 2nd-4th all throughout the town. People come from all across the country to check out the tulips blossoming all over Pella.

You can find 300,000 tulips all throughout the town including Central Park, Sunken Gardens, Fair Haven, and Central College.

Tickets for the event are available now!

Only one other Midwestern spot was on this list. Have you been to any of these beautiful springtime destinations?
