[UPDATE] 27-year-old Robert Mitchell of Davenport was identified as the man shot by a Scott County Sheriff's Deputy. He has died as a result of the shooting.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A shooting early this morning in Davenport has left a suspect in critical condition. According to a post on the Scott County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the shooting happened at 1:09 Tuesday morning in the 6600 block of North Brady Street in Davenport.

During a traffic stop, a Deputy was communicating with a suspect when the incident turned into a struggle. As the situation developed, the Deputy fired shots and the suspect was critically injured.

According to WQAD, the suspect then drove away and a chase ensued, ending at a Kwik Shop at Division Street and Kimberly Road in Davenport. The person was then taken to the hospital, where they're said to be in critical condition. KWQC says the suspect is a male, who has not yet been identified.

The name of the Deputy involved has not been released. Per department policy, the Deputy will be on administrative leave during the investigation into the shooting.
