We've begun to experience a warm day now and then, which got me thinking about Iowa's new theme park that will open later this year. They're making big progress.

Lost Island Theme Park will be located in Waterloo, very close to the Lost Island Water Park. It was about 2-and-a-half years ago that the Bertch family announced the new amusement park. Construction started in August of 2019 and as we approached spring of 2022, exciting progress is being made in Waterloo.

The new theme park isn't just drawing excitement here in Iowa. Theme Park Tribune lists the opening of Lost Island Theme Park as one of the most anticipated theme park attractions in the U.S. this year. It's #2 on the list, behind only 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind' at Epcot Center in Walt Disney World.

There's been a lot going on at Lost Island Theme Park over the last few months. A couple of cosmetic things caught my eye. The beautifully painted buildings.

Love the uniqueness of the hand-stamped concrete.

Lost Island will feature 400 light poles that appear to be bamboo. That's not the case. Pretty cool to see this process:

It's always a fantastic sign when ride-testing begins. That's now happening in Waterloo! This is Udara, which will spin riders all the way around.

Here's a couple for much younger theme park attendees. They're called Kapulele Gliders and Ohu Hoppers.

Although there's not yet a ton of specifics on the Lost Island Theme Park website concerning what rides you'll see, their Wikipedia page shows 29 different attractions.

Now for a couple of videos that feature overall views of the park, and ride-specifics. The first is a great drone video. No narration is included with this one.

The video below has specific information on some of the rides.

Hiring is underway. Lost Island held a job fair last week and is accepting applications here. However, I know the two main questions you have. When does it open and how much will it cost? While prices still haven't been announced, Lost Island said earlier this month that they'll be opening this summer. When they announce the specific date, we'll definitely let you know.
