Rodina means "family" in Czech. And that's what owners Samuel and Phoebe Charles hope to convey at their newly opened Cedar Rapids restaurant - a unique family comfort food experience - casual, but with a touch of class.

Located at 1507 C St. SW in the historic Czech Village neighborhood, Rodina is just a short walk from the National Czech and Slovak Library & Museum, and a stone's throw from another favorite local landmark, Lion's Bridge Brewery.

Rodina offers up a nice variety of taste sensations, many of them steeped in Bohemian traditions. For starters you'll find meatballs, mushrooms and mussels on the small plate menu, along with roasted chicken and pan seared pork on the large plate menu.

The menu is seasonal, according to their Facebook page and website and Rodina also features a full bar.

Their hours are 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 5:00 p.m. -9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Sundays. Reservations are encouraged at (319) 200-2515.
