While the 'brick and mortar' retail industry continues to take a major hit, there are some stores still expanding their footprint.

One retailer will soon open its first Iowa location. The Quad City Times reported that family fashion chain H&M will open in Davenport this fall. In its 71 years of existence, this will be its first Iowa store.

A statement by a spokesman said:

We feel like H&M is always looking for the best locations and that is an important part of the expansion project for us

It will be one of 50 new stores the chain expects to open across the U.S. this year and will add about 20 new jobs to the Davenport and Iowa employment market. We here in Iowa will certainly be glad to have them.

The 20,000 square-foot store will open in the fall, at NorthPark Mall in Davenport, and will sell "fashions for both men and women and will carry the H&M Kids collection for newborns to teens"
