The pictures and videos of what's happening along the Mississippi River in extreme eastern Iowa are becoming all too familiar to those in the heartland. Water everywhere. Homes, businesses, and lives ruined. The Mississippi River in the Quad Cities reached an all-time record high Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 5:50 pm.

The river reached 22.7 feet late Thursday afternoon, breaking the previous record of 22.6, which was reached in July of 1993. This is the fifth time in history the river has surpassed 22 feet and the second time since 1993. It reached 22.33 feet in 2001.
