Private Island for Sale in Eastern Iowa [PHOTOS]
If you've never bought a Powerball ticket there's no better time to start than now!
There's a private island for sale in eastern Iowa. We hear about famous celebrities buying private islands and spending weekends laying on the beach, sipping mai tai's, and watching the waves crash by. Well, you know have that opportunity as the private island is located in downtown Muscatine.
Sadly, I don't think I'll be in the financial position to buy a private island anytime soon but I was curious, what is it really like owning a private island? How much does it actually cost? Other than the financial aspect, what other factors come into play for those who own private islands?
Muscatine Private Island
According to KWQC, the 129-acre Towhead Island is for sale at $1.5 million. A family has privately owned this island for 3 generations and the sale comes as a bit of a surprise to some Muscatine natives.
Vada Baker is the manager at Muscatine's National Pearl Button Museum and she told KWQC that she was pretty amazed that the island could be sold. She said
"It totally amazed me. I didn’t think you could sell part of a Mississippi River island, I had no idea that it was privately owned. I just hope that somebody who does buy it doesn’t use it as a commercial type thing and just keeps it in this natural state. To me, that’s what’s important."
If you've got a spare $1.5 million lying around, the island is listed with a team at RE/MAX Real Estate. Check out another one of Iowa's most expensive properties! Maybe one day...
