Cedar Rapids will not be seeing our American Idol winner this summer, after all.

Via a press release from the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, it has been announced that Maddie Poppe has cancelled her appearance at Market After Dark.

The nighttime edition of the Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market was set to have the American Idol winner from Clarksville perform onstage on Saturday, August 25. Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, this performance has been cancelled. Local celebrity Alisabeth Von Presley has stepped in to take Maddie's place. No reason or details on the scheduling conflict are available at this time.

Poppe's team made the following statement:

This unfortunate change is out of the control of Maddie's management team and they deeply regret the inconvenience.

A short time later, this announcement appeared on Maddie's Facebook page:

AVP's performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 and should run until around 8:30 p.m. on the main stage at 3rd Ave. and 5th Street SE.

In other disappointing news, Maddie's Clinton concert scheduled for later this fall is now SOLD OUT.

We will continue to update you on the cancellation of Maddie Poppe's appearance at Market After Dark as new details arise.
