Local Ice Cream Shop Offering $1 Cones This Weekend

This is one of those stories that puts a smile on everybody's face!

According to our friends at CBS2, "Each sweet treat you buy from Friday, October 19 through Sunday, October 21 at The Freeze in Marion, you'll be supporting the students of the Marion Independent School District."

During this special promotion, 100% of the proceeds from the cones will be donated to the Marion Independent School Foundation and Alumni Association. The Freeze is located at 915 South 11th Street in Marion.

I love ice cream and I love a good deal! I will definitely be stopping by for a $1 cone. I think it's pretty cool that the owners are doing this. Thanks to Tim and Jonnie Quigley for this wonderful act of kindness.

The CBS2 story reports this fundraiser provided more than $2,400 last year. With that money, the school purchased a camera for the journalism department at the school. One year later, they won a statewide award using that camera. What a great story!
