Davenport and Quad City Areas Currently Under Tornado Watch Until 3 PM
Davenport and much of the Quad Cities area are currently under a Tornado Watch this evening. The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch 305, which remains in effect until 11:00 PM CDT.
Here is what KWQC has reported as of 8:00 AM.
What Does That Mean?
A Tornado Watch does not mean a tornado has been spotted. It means weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. The atmosphere is also capable of producing:
- Damaging winds
- Large hail
- Heavy rainfall
- Isolated tornadoes

What Should Quad City Residents Do?
- Keep your phone charged and make sure emergency alerts are turned on.
- Know where you'll go if a Tornado Warning is issued (lowest floor, interior room, away from windows).
- If you're out at an event tonight, keep an eye on the radar and weather alerts.
- Have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if you're planning to sleep before the watch expires.
Are Storms Expected?
Forecasters say severe storms are possible across eastern Iowa and western Illinois tonight, with the potential for damaging winds and tornadoes in parts of the Midwest. The National Weather Service office in Davenport specifically highlighted the risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes and large hail.
