Iowa’s Final Four Run Lands Head Coach Lisa Bluder a Big Payday!
In this amazing run to the Final Four fo the Iowa Hawkeyes, a lot of attention goes to the players. It's hard not to when you've got Caitlin Clark on your team. But guiding this amazing team is a fantastic coaching staff led by the head Hawk Lisa Bluder.
Bluder has Iowa in back-to-back Final Fours for the first time in school history. She is the all-time winningest coach in Iowa women's basketball history. After taking over the program in 2000, Bluder has led Iowa to two regular-season Big Ten titles and five Big Ten Tournament titles, according to the Athletic. Winning a national championship would put her name up with the elite coaches in the nation. Many Iowa fans believe she is already there. Iowa's latest run to the Final Four has given Bluder something new. A pay raise.
The Athletic reports that for guiding Iowa to the Final Four this season, Bluder earned a bonus of $100,000. She has now earned a total of $310,000 in bonus money this season. But wait, there's more! Bluder also receives an automatic two-year contract extension and a $150,000 raise beginning next season. And I couldn't be happier. There is no other coach I'd rather have representing the state of Iowa.
Lisa Bluder and the Iowa Hawkeye women will take on UConn in the Final Four on Friday night in Cleveland. Iowa is an early 3.5-point favorite. The game will be the second national semi-final game that night as the Hawkeyes and Huskies will tip at around 8:30 p.m. Iowa time.
