300 Cats Have Been Adopted in a Year Thanks to an Eastern Iowa Cat Lounge
To say that Kitty Corner Social Club has been a success would be an understatement. The Iowa City cat lounge has officially been open for a year, and in that time, they've helped 300 cats get adopted!
About Kitty Corner Social Club
Located at 20 S Clinton Street in Iowa City, Kitty Corner Social Club is the area's first cat lounge, a place "where humans can relax, unwind, and connect with cat residents available for adoption in partnership with local humane societies + cat rescues." They first opened their doors on February 25th of 2025.
According to the website, Kitty Corner Social Club has worked with several different organizations to bring adoptable cats into their lounge. The list includes the Iowa City Animal Care And Adoption Center, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society, CCLAW, the Scott County Humane Society, and more. A new feline crew is brought in to Kitty Corner each Monday, and they're available to meet, play with, and snuggle Tuesday through Sunday. New adoptions are reviewed on Thursdays, and Sunday night is when the adopted kitties get to go to their new homes!
Back in October, Kitty Corner Social Club revealed on social media that they had over 150 adoptions in the eight months they had been open, and that number has continued to grow. As of Monday, 297 cats had been adopted, and the lounge says that number will increase to 300 next week! INCREDIBLE.
How to Support Kitty Corner Social Club
The best way to show your support for Kitty Corner would be to pay them a visit. The lounge is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sessions range from 15 minutes to an hour, and they even have monthly memberships! Walk-ins are welcome, but if you're on a tight schedule or have a group coming in together, it's best to make a reservation online HERE.
Kitty Corner Social Club also sells gift cards and merch, and has a Sticker Club that you can subscribe to! It's only $10 a month, and each month you'll get an exclusive piece of merch designed by a local artist, exclusive content, and a note from the crew.
