The Field of Dreams in Dyersville will be hosting two games next week. The first one will feature the Cedar Rapids Kernels. For the game Tuesday, August 9, they'll be known as the Cedar Rapids Bunnies. The uniform jerseys Cedar Rapids will wear are very similar to the ones they wore nearly 100 years ago.

On Friday, the Cedar Rapids Kernels revealed the Bunnies uniforms:

Cedar Rapids General Manager Scott Wilson says staffers will be setting up the Bunnies locker room at the Field of Dreams on Monday. Tuesday night a sellout crowd of 8,000 will be in attendance as the Bunnies take on the Quad Cities River Bandits, who will be the Davenport Blue Sox for the night.

I bought tickets for Cedar Rapids' game as soon as they were available and can't wait to see this picturesque setting in person. This was the scene last year when the Yankees and White Sox met.

The place looks set for its first minor league game.

As far as game day is concerned, Wilson says the team busses for Cedar Rapids and Davenport will receive police escorts into the Field of Dreams sometime between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. They'll be able to explore the movie site and the stadium itself, until gates open to the public at 3 p.m.

Uniforms worn by players in Tuesday's game will immediately be part of an MLB charity auction after the game. Wilson says, though not game worn, each player will receive an authentic game jersey and other memorabilia to remember what promises to be a very special day in their lives.

Cedar Rapids has won 59 games this season, more than any other team in the Midwest League. They're playing at Veterans Memorial Stadium each day through Sunday, before an off day, and then their Tuesday game in Dyersville.

If you're not going to Dyersville on Tuesday, the game will be nationally televised by MLB Network. The first pitch is scheduled for just after 6 p.m.
