Slow your roll, folks. It's a message that doesn't seem to be getting through to motorists this summer as KCRG reports on another Iowa joyrider zooming around at excessive speeds. This time, the number is 117. As in, 117 miles per hour.

The rider wasn't even licensed

The story continues as the rider, who was pulled over in Cedar Rapids, had nothing but a motorcycle instruction permit.

As an Iowa State Patrol social media post goes on to say, thankfully, the trooper was able to get this driver stopped before anything really bad happened.

Troopers have a busy weekend ahead

It's Labor Day weekend, the start of the unofficial final weekend of summer, and the start of college football in the state of Iowa. As fans head to Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City and Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, not to mention their camping trips and holiday weekend get-togethers, it's going to keep troopers and law enforcement on their toes. This rogue motorcyclist was likely not the beginning of the weekend they had hoped for.

Troopers began the summer the same way

This incident bookended the summer for troopers, who, back in May, it was reported that the State Patrol encountered and stopped a driver on I-80 in Johnson County after clocking the driver at 100 mph and with a BAC of .199%.

No alcohol was reportedly involved in this weekend's incident, but after the May stop, they urged:

“Speed, drinking, reckless driving... these things could KILL yourself or someone else,”

We thank them for protecting us this weekend and every day, and it's a reminder not only to enjoy the weekend but to be safe out there on your way.
