There is a reason cruise control was invented, but this man felt the need for speed.

Feeling The Music

A 19-year-old man was driving down an Iowa interstate when all of a sudden, a GREAT song came on his stereo. Blood was pumping, the car was bumping, and his right foot was pumping on the gas pedal a little too much because when the driver saw red and blue lights in his rearview mirror, he looked down at the speedometer and saw he was flying at 120 MPH.

The Incident

On December 26th a witness called 911 to report a reckless driver was speeding and “swerving all over the road.” During that time a sheriff’s deputy spotted the speeding vehicle on Interstate 380 as it flew past him at 100 mph around 9:15 PM.

The speeding driver of the 2006 Honda Accord EX was identified as Nicholas Bernard. Bernard reportedly “admitted to going 120 mph at one point” because "a good song came on” the stereo.

There is no report on what song he was listening to, but seeing that this was in Johnson County, he might have been listening to KRNA classic rock!

You would think this incident would only lead to Bernard facing a speeding citation, but you would be wrong.

Finding More

As Bernard opened the glovebox to retrieve his registration and insurance records, a large amount of marijuana was spotted by the deputy in the glove box.

The officer then searched the entire car and found a smoking pipe and other drug paraphernalia.
