Where are Iowans Headed for Spring Break in 2024?
Tis the season for a warm vacation!
Google Trends recently took a look at searches for popular spring break vacation spots between the dates of February 6th and March 5th of 2024. According to that study, 34 states in the U.S. have Miami as the top search for spring break destinations. Iowa is NOT one of them! Folks in Iowa are apparently headed a couple of states north of Florida to South Carolina. Myrtle Beach is the number one most-searched spring break spot for Iowans this year.
Myrtle Beach is a popular place to visit on spring break because of its 60 miles of beaches, something we definitely don't have here in Iowa. In addition to that, they also have over 2,000 restaurants, around 90 "quality" golf courses, and lots of shopping, live music, and events. There's also the 187-foot-tall Myrtle Beach SkyWheel on America's Boardwalk, Medieval Times, Ripley's Aquarium, the Carolina Country Music Fest, the Conway Riverwalk, and so much more. The only other state that searched Myrtle Beach the most was actually South Carolina itself!
A lot of fellow Midwest states had Miami as their top search, like Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri, but there were a few other destinations mentioned, too. Folks in Minnesota have been searching for South Padre Island in Texas, while people in South Dakota and Nebraska were looking up Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
