Iowa Holds Steady, Showdown With Wisconsin Looms
Iowa did what it needed to do Saturday against Northwestern. No, it wasn't a dominant offensive performance. But the Hawkeye defense shut out the Wildcats in a 20-0 win that was never really in doubt. You're supposed to be teams that only have one win on the year.
The Hawkeyes remain at number 19 in both the AP Top 25 poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. Iowa improved to 6-2 overall with a 3-2 mark in Big Ten play. Iowa has a bye this week before a huge matchup in Madison on November 9th against 17th ranked Wisconsin. The Badgers have lost two straight Big Ten games.
The Iowa State Cyclones mid-season roll came to a halt on Saturday. They dropped a tough 34-27 decision to Oklahoma State at Jack Trice Stadium. The loss also dropped the Cyclones out of the top 25 for the second time this season. Iowa State is now 5-3 on the year and 3.2 in the Big 12. The Cyclones also have a bye this week before facing the Oklahoma Sooners.
