Iowa Family Blessed With Cubs World Series Baby
I met a wonderful couple when I was visiting the Quad Cities this week. Meet my new friends Jackie and Phil Young. They live in Davenport and happen to be HUGE Chicago Cubs fans!.
Last fall, the family got some very exciting (and surprising) news. Jackie was pregnant with their third child. When they sat down and did the math to figure out when their baby was conceived, they realized it happened on a very special night!
That night was November 2, 2016. It was the same day as Game 7 of the World Series. The Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians to win their first World Series title since 1908! It was an incredible night and so many fans were celebrating all over the country....Jackie and Phil obviously got swept up in the moment. Nine months later, here's their beautiful daughter.
They named their daughter, Ivy. The connection is obvious, and though many babies born during this mini boom may be named Addison or Waveland or Wrigley...this one will be different. Because every season starts with the promise of a lush ivy-covered outfield wall at Wrigley Field. It took one magical year where the blessing of the ivy returned the next summer with the blessing of Ivy.
Jackie and Phil are some really great people and I'm glad I got to spend some time with them. Phil told me he can't wait for the day to take the entire family to Chicago for a game.
Congratulations to this great Iowa family with a deep connection to the Chicago Cubs...and welcome, Ivy!
