The Iowa Derecho Storm Resource Page was created after the storm that hit Eastern Iowa on Monday, August 10th. The page is a centralized place for those who need help or those offering help after the devastating hit we took just 10 days ago.

The page has been a huge success and a great way for information to be passed on to members in our community. And speaking of the community, folks have really stepped up to offer assistance and help.

The founder of the page, Raymond Siddell, posted the following earlier today:

"A SEVENTH successful day of helping the community! The outpouring of support from the local community and beyond our community has been AMAZING! Today we were able to serve over 4000 hot meals and have raised just over $115,000!"

It's so wonderful to see everyone pulling together to help those in need. This has been a long 10 days, and there are literally still thousands of people without power.

If you want to help, stop by the Iowa Derecho Releif Center at 5001 1st Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids. You can also text the center at 319-432-9754.

I was over there yesterday and it was amazing to see all of the volunteers. Special thanks to Raymond and the entire staff for doing so much to help those that need it the most.

Stay safe out there and let's hope our city can be even stronger when this is all over.
