Happy Halloween, beer guzzlers. I cannot wait for Corridor On Tap. Spectacular venue [Doubletree Convention Center at The US Cellular Center complex] with even more spectacular suds. We'll have over 100 beers on tap.

Here's a list of my Iowa favorites. Trick or Drink?

I ran into the cats from Peace Tree at the New Bo Bike event over the summer. We rode to Odie's in Ely and back, and had a belly full of Cornucopia. It's Peace Tree’s twist on a saison, or farmhouse ale, brewed with the addition of sweet corn. They sourced sweet corn in early July from Mott’s Farms in nearby Pleasantville, Iowa.

Backpocket brews one that must be picked up by the end of the day today, or you become a Cyclone fan. That would look stupid on the Coralville strip. Hawktoberfest is brewed in the same style as those you would find in Munich hundreds of years ago... with an Iowa spin. Its balanced malt flavor and clean finish pairs perfectly with a crisp afternoon gathering with friends.

I'm a Scharnau, and this beer sounds like my weird German name. Schild Brau means essentially 'Schild Beer' in my native land.  This flagship brew, a microbrew done in the style of the special beers of Munich, is brewed in the style of a Vienna Lager.

Cider? I hardly know her! Over in Lisbon, it's the Hard Cider that'll make you smile. Lively carbonation, fermented in french oak. This refreshment will leave you wanting another, because the best thing about a cold Hard Cider is the prospect of a continuation of the trend.

Slurp on a Chicawawa Lemon Ale. I own a beagle. He hates the Chihuahua next door. This fine beverage is dedicated to my beagle. May his nose be calm tonight thinking about that neighbor while I chug a couple of these tasty treats.

Arms Race Pale Ale. I grew up in an era where we thought the nukes might fly at any time. When that old fear brews up in my belly, I put on of these brews in my belly. All Citra Pale Ale with Citra and dry-hopped again with Citra. I said "Citra" three times in one sentence.

The Tall Corn State may need to be re-named the Tall Hops State with all this great local brewing going on. Sample some on Friday, November 21 with 94.1 KRNA. We'll raise a glass with all of our great listeners who've been with us for 4 decades.
