Governor Reynolds Preaches Patience in Dealing With COVID-19

During her daily press conference to update Iowa's coronavirus numbers, Governor Kim Reynolds did have some good news. Cases were down in Southeast Iowa, a problem area in the state. The number of people recovering from the virus continues to rise. But Reynolds says that everyone clamoring to re-open the state for business needs to calm down.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Governor Reynolds said that the state is by no means clear of the virus' impact. Infections and deaths will continue to rise in the coming days and weeks. Reynolds stated that their data indicates that Iowa's peak won't happen until later this month. So when will Iowa re-open for business and school?

The governor announced yesterday that a task force is being formed to look into that very subject, and that the task force, which will be constructed of various department heads, will begin meeting later this week. Leaders from the private sector will be added later. Governor Reynolds also stated that it is way too early to predict when the state will be ready to re-open.
