Gov. Reynolds Orders Iowa Schools to Remain Closed Through April

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced Thursday she would order schools to remain closed through April 30.

According to Governor Reynolds' press conference, she said that keeping schools closed at least through April was needed as Iowa sees more cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, Reynolds said school districts will be required to let state officials now how they plan to continue to provide educational opportunities to students. Districts will have the option of utilizing paper worksheets or use online tools which will give students credit or they may provide noncredit lessons.

Those schools which plan to offer noncredit lessons will be required to make up lost school time beyond what has not been waived by the Legislature.

School districts will need to make a decision by April 10.
