As we prepare for Thanksgiving this week, it's important to remember those in need. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a hot meal this holiday season. Thankfully, there are a handful of local organizations that are hosting FREE meals.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, The Salvation Army is having a Thanksgiving meal this Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The location is 1000 C Avenue NW in Cedar Rapids.

The Gazette also noted a Thanksgiving Day meal at First Church of the Open Bible on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. That location is 1911 E Avenue NW in Cedar Rapids.

It's sad to think there are people here in Eastern Iowa that won't be able to have a proper Thanksgiving. We forget how good we have it. You may get tired of your Uncle Bill at the holiday gathering, but be thankful you have a roof over your head and hot turkey on the table.

The other day, my good friend Mike Ross sent a motivating tweet.

He's right, let's not be selfish. Let's do our best to take some time and money to help those less fortunate this year. I want to thank Mike, he's inspired me....I hope you feel the same way.
