What Is Field Day?

Sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), Field Day is the largest annual gathering of amateur radio operators—or “hams”—in North America. It’s a fun and practical way to test emergency communication skills, all while making contact with fellow hams across the globe.

In Eastern Iowa, local groups will set up portable, generator-powered radio stations in “emergency style” to simulate disaster response. Curious visitors can even get on the air under the guidance of licensed operators.

Hosted By:

  • Cedar Valley Amateur Radio Club

  • Collins Amateur Radio Club

Whether you're a long-time ham, just radio-curious, or want to learn how this technology keeps communities connected during emergencies, you’re invited!
