Facebook Is About to Become More Like Snapchat

Here we go again.

Facebook can't just leave things be. It looks like the social media site is about to become more like its ever-growing counterpart in popularity, Snapchat.

They are phasing in a few new features, according to a blog posted from the company on Thrillist. An updated camera feature that you can either tap an icon to get to in the upper right corner of the phone app, or "swipe right"--a term stolen from yet another social media site-- from your News Feed/Timeline/Whatever they're calling it now, to use it on your PC. The new camera will have holograms, masks and other effects you can add to photos before sharing them.

They will also add "Facebook stories", a blatant rip-off of Snapchat in that anything you post there is called a "story" that self-deletes after a certain amount of time. This, according to the article, is just the tip of the update iceberg on the way from Facebook.

I don't know about you, but the constant changes and updates from Facebook all the time make my head spin. Just let me share my plain post or photo with no frills. I'm sure we'll still be able to do that, but sometimes it seems like overkill. Yes, I know it's free and complaining is useless.

To paraphrase Bill Belichick, I am not into the whole Snapface or Chatbook deal. I am, however, definitely into a simple Facebook platform, for keeping in touch with family and friends (and, OK, possibly for goofing off sometimes).
