Golf is one of the most unique sports in the world. It's normally just you vs the course. You're not necessarily playing against anyone else. You're battling against yourself and nature. If you're in a tournament or playing for money, you're definitely trying to end up with a better score than the other golfers but if you're out just having a fun round with your friends/family, you're battling it out against your own mind and then great outdoors.

If you have golfed before, you know how quickly things can go from bad to worse or from bad to incredible. You can be cruising along having a great day and then turn into a frustrated mess in a matter of seconds.

On one hole, you can look like you know exactly what you're doing, and a moment later on your next swing, it might look like you've never played before. That's what makes it challenging and fun for most people.

Kramer knows a thing or two about the frustrations of golf...

One Iowa man appears to have put together a pretty good round of golf, which led to him winning big with the Iowa Lottery. Put a checkmark in the win column for Bryan and for the game of golf.

Bryan Doornebal, from Pleasant Hill, Iowa, was the winner of $30,000 with the Iowa Lottery's "Premiere" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh, located at 4910 Maple Drive in Pleasant Hill. After scratching his ticket in the parking lot, he couldn't wait to get home and show his wife, Alexis.

Bryan told the Iowa Lottery,

Thursdays are my day off so I started the morning with a round of golf. I was feeling good about myself and it's usually in those moments when I buy a ticket: I'm in a good mood, something good just happened, and we try to parlay that into more luck.

If Bryan hadn't played a decent round of golf that morning, there's a chance he never stops to buy a ticket! Did a round of golf help him win big with the Iowa Lottery? I'd definitely say so. I really like his way of thinking in this story. He basically said "Let's keep the good luck train rolling" and look at that! He was right.

When he got home, his wife scanned the ticket just to be sure it was a winner. He told the Iowa Lottery,

She scanned it and then we knew. It's kind of just a surreal moment. You get that extra set of eyeballs on it, hopefully with a loved one, and then you celebrate.

Bryan is a car salesman and has 4 children. He and his wife plan to use the winnings to pay off one of their vehicles, buy a power wheel car, and some new softball/baseball bats for their kids.

The Iowa Lottery's "Premiere" scratch game is a $30 game that features 17 top prizes of $300,000. There are 84 $30,000 prizes and the overall odds are 1 in 2.39 according to the Iowa Lottery.

Congratulations to Bryan on his big win and I hope to run into you on the golf course sometime.

Always remember to gamble responsibly.
