Americans love our small towns. Whether it is the made up ones in Hallmark movies where apparently you find the love of your life (never happened to me yet) or the real life ones where everybody knows everyone and has that charm to it, we are fascinated by small towns. So it is only fitting that we name the best small towns in each state in the U.S. right?

Since there is not much we can do this summer (thanks COVID-19), road trips seem to be the new popular way to have fun and finding some of the best small towns would be the perfect destinations. So , what is the best small town in Iowa?

Thrillist recently put out a list naming the best small town in each state and the winner in Iowa is..... Decorah! Okay let's be honest, there are a lot of small, charming towns in Iowa so why did Decorah get picked? Well, it is said that Decorah has some of the best areas for outdoor activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and eve fishing. Not only that but if you are a fan of breweries, Toppling Goliath Brewery is located here which produces Kentucky Brunch, once named the best beer in the world.

Does this entice you for a little road trip? Check out more of the best small towns in America here.
