The 12th Annual Iowa's Best Burger Contest has officially begun, and voting ends this month!

There are plenty of great places to order a burger here in Iowa, but every year, the Iowa Beef Industry Council sets out to find the best of the best. Voting for the 2021 Iowa's Best Burger Contest kicked off on February 15th, and the process can be done right from your phone. According to the contest rules, votes are being accepted through March 15th online or via text. To vote online, all you have to do is visit IABeef.org and click on the button that says "Best Burger Contest" (or just click HERE). There are drop down menus for each city where you can select from a list of restaurants, or you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and submit your own. If you'd rather vote by text, just send the word "BEEF" to (515) 220-2020 and follow the prompts.

All burgers submitted for the contest must be 100% beef and composed of a "formed ground beef patty/patties served on a bun or other bread product." An anonymous judging panel will choose the winner from 10 finalists based on the taste, appearance/presentation, proper cooking temperature, and "other."

Last year's Best Burger winner was The Twisted Tail in BeeBeeTown, which is over on the west side of the state. They were announced as the winner on September 21st, which means it will be quite awhile before we finally hear this year's champion! In the meantime, please enjoy these photos of some of my favorite burgers here in Iowa:
