Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl has been everywhere lately.  He’s been on 60 Minutes, HBO, Ellen, Letterman, and  the cover of Rolling Stone, just to name a few.  Has he been whoring himself out trying to promote his new album, Sonic Highways?  Is he going against some punk rock ethos that believes such blatant self-promotion is a bad thing?  Maybe.  And he doesn’t seem to care.

Dave Grohl isn’t the brooding frontman that his late former bandmate, Kurt Cobain was.  Perhaps this comes with age?  He’s 45, able now to look back on the road he’s taken, lenses that Cobain never had the opportunity to look through.  Brooding subsides, and maturity and appreciation creep in.  This guy loves spreading the word of rock n’ roll.  But this isn't just self-promotion.  It seems he’s shining light on other musicians just as much as he’s talking up his own band.  It’s clear that he loves sharing, not only his story, but the story of those who inspired him through music.  This is readily apparent in his 2013 Sound City documentary, and now again in the HBO series, Sonic Highways.  This guy loves music and he’s not afraid to show it.

Grohl’s productivity is off the charts.  Already a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer as a member of Nirvana, he’s now 8 albums in with the Foo Fighters, with no signs of slowing.  He’s also worked with a wide array of musicians and bands, including the likes of Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of the Stone Age, and even Tenacious D.  It appears he’ll unabashedly be carrying the rock n’ roll torch for some time to come.
