Major League Baseball has announced a new date for the Field of Dreams game in Iowa that was originally planned to be played this year.

According to MLB officials, the game is now tentatively scheduled to be played Aug. 12, 2021, at the iconic movie site near Dyersville. The Chicago White Sox will host the New York Yankees in the first regular season major league game to be played in the state of Iowa.

The game was originally set for Aug. 13 this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic shortened the usual 162-game schedule to just 60 games. When Major League Baseball reworked its schedule, the White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals were slated to play in Iowa.

Once the shortened season got underway, no fans were allowed into the stadiums. Eventually, the 2020 Field of Dreams game was canceled.

A temporary 8,000-seat stadium built next to the iconic field was torn down after the game was canceled. MLB officials said then that the stadium would be reconstructed, if the game was rescheduled.

Now, the structure can be rebuilt, so the teams will come!!
