A local entertainment company today announced the opening of a very cool new business venture in Cedar Rapids called CRVR.

It's a new six-booth virtual reality arcade located in the newly renovated lobby of Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

A ribbon cutting will be held Thursday, July 11th at 4 p.m. and a grand-opening weekend will be held July 12th – 14th.

According to Venue Works, CRVR features cutting-edge virtual reality technology allowing for both single and multi-player gaming experiences for players. The arcade’s library of games will start with 14 popular titles including Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine, Job Simulator, VR Battle Grid and several others.

30-minute blocks of time can be purchased for $15 and players can play as many titles as they wish during their blocks of time.

Parents will be happy to hear that Ice Arena staff will manage the experience, including monitoring age restrictions on games with ESRB ratings not appropriate for younger children.

The virtual arcade will be open daily 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“We are excited to add CRVR to the menu of services at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena,” said Katie Ripke, Director of Marketing and Sales. “The ice arena plays an important part in providing a robust quality of life in our community and welcomes over 200,000 patrons each year. This new service gives patrons yet another reason to visit the ice arena and will attract a new, diverse crowd to this community center.”

The Ice Arena will also continue it's rapidly growing Learn to Skate program and expanded public skates, along with figure skating, youth and adult hockey, skating lessons and birthday parties.

The venue is also home to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
