Cheese Is The Latest Recall To Hit Iowa Stores

The latest of the food recalls to hit Iowa grocery stores might not be a favorite amongst dairy lovers.

A Kansas City cheese company is recalling several of its cheese products due to concerns over Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children and the elderly.

According to the FDA, the recalled cheese is by Paris Brothers Inc and was produced on May 4, 5, and 6 2022. The lot codes of the cheese are 05042022, 05052022, or 05062022.

The cheeses in the recall are:

• Cottonwood River Cheddar
• D'amir Brie Double Crème French Brie
• Milton Prairie Breeze White Cheddar Style
• Milton Tomato Garlic Cheddar
• Paris Brothers Mild Cheddar
• Paris Brothers Colby Jack
• Paris Brothers Pepper Jack
• Cervasi Pecorino Romano

Along with Iowa, the impacted cheeses have been distributed in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, and one store in Mississippi and Florida.

In Iowa, the cheese has been sold at Fairway, Sunshine Foods Deli, and Super Saver.

This recall is the result of Listeria monocytogenes being found during routine FDA sampling of the product.

There have been no reported illnesses to date.
