All The Celebrities Who Showed Up For Caitlin Clark’s Senior Day
It was a magical and by some accounts, a surreal day in Iowa City on Sunday. Hawkeye fans turned out to watch Iowa take on #2 Ohio State and bid farewell to five seniors, including the incomparable Caitlin Clark. Tickets for the game were the most expensive in the history of women's basketball. But that didn't stop an impressive list of celebrities from making the trip to Iowa City!
Fans and celebs were treated to a 93-83 Hawkeye victory. Caitlin Clark scored 35 points and broke Pistol Pete Maravich's record for most points scored in the history of NCAA basketball. Iowa will be the #2 seed at the Big Ten Conference Tournament and will play a quarterfinal game this Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Minneapolis.
An impressive list of basketball greats, sports heroes, and celebrities stopped by Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Here are just a few that were sighted.
Former Iowa Hawkeye football greats Robert Gallery and Dallas Clark took in the game, posing with current Iowa men's basketball player Owen Freeman.
Also on hand was former Kansas great Lynette Woodard. Clark broke Woodard's scoring record last week at Minnesota and welcomed the college basketball great to Iowa City on Sunday.
Another women's basketball great showed up on Sunday, this time as a special surprise for Caitlin Clark. Her basketball hero growing up was former UConn star Maya Moore. Moore went on to star for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA and was Caitlin's favorite basketball player. The two got to meet before Sunday's game.
It shouldn't have shocked anyone to see Jake from State Farm at Carver on Sunday! Caitlin Clark does commercials for the insurance company and Jake was there to support her. Check out the custom vest he's wearing! It was made by designer Kristin Juszczyk. Caitlin Clark was presented with one after the game in the Hawkeye locker room.
A name you probably didn't expect to see sitting at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday was MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan. According to KCRG's Scott Saville, the pitching great dropped $7,000 on tickets to see the Iowa women!
But perhaps the most shocking celebrity spotting on Sunday was rapper Travis Scott. Who knew that the music star was a huge Caitlin Clark and Iowa fan? Scott sat courtside for the game and even got in on the celebration after Iowa knocked of Ohio State!
