You've heard of "take your kid to work day", but this is just dumb and pretty tragic. A Cedar Rapids mother who apparently needs lots of help in many ways is on her way to jail after KWWL says she brought a 7-year-old to a drug deal.

It's a 45-month prison sentence for 25-year-old Paige Elizabeth Axler, and apparently not her first time in trouble. We'll get to that in a second. She initially received her prison term in September of 2021, after pleading guilty to distributing at least fifty grams of pure meth.

According to KWWL, "evidence from the hearings showed that on two occasions in December 2020, Axler distributed two ounces of ice meth."

Between those two occasions, the first one she had the aforementioned 7-year-old child along. The second time, "she obtained the ice meth from a person in a hotel room before selling it to another person."

After her term is up, she will be under five years of supervised release. Axler is being held in U.S. Marshals' custody until being moved to federal prison. Considering Axler, in total, has accumulated eight adult criminal charges over the years, the young child has not seemed to start off with a great upbringing. Meanwhile, prison is the punishment for Axler's latest misdeed, but here's hoping the help she needs is available to her once she is out.
