Cedar Rapids Transit Resumes Service Following Derecho

Iowa's News Now reports that following a week of no service due to the devastating derecho, Cedar Rapids Transit is resuming bus service starting today, Monday, August 17.

Storm damage and streets covered in debris have made many roads impassable, and as the cleanup process is still underway, some of these conditions may still prevail, so the transit system says there may be delays in service. Don't forget all the social distancing guidelines still in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic we are still in:

• Entering and exiting the bus through the back door only, except those with ADA accommodation requirements
• 15 passenger limit per bus. Overflow buses will quickly be deployed to follow if there is a need to accommodate additional passengers.
• Essential trips only, to and from work, medical appointments, grocery shopping, etc.
• No waiting inside the Ground Transportation Facility, except to use the restroom
• Face coverings are required and may include masks, bandanas, neck gaiters, scarves
• No fares taken at this time to limit interaction between riders and passengers
