Local Busch Distributors Take Carson King Fundraiser Over The Top
Although Anheuser-Busch cut their ties with him in the wake of his social media tweets, local Busch beer distributors across Iowa have made it right and helped Carson King's fundraising campaign hit an even $3 million for Stead Family Children's Hospital.
Earlier this week, we told you King's Venmo campaign, that grew out of a simple sign asking for beer money on ESPN Gameday, had been closed at a final total of $2,959,336 for the kids--just $40,000 short of $3 million. Busch Light distributors in the state kicked in that extra 40-grand, to make the overall contribution between them and their parent company $920,110.10.
King has, again, closed the Venmo account associated with his donation collection but is now directing contributions to a website called Give To Iowa, an independent fundraising arm of the University of Iowa.
The Gazette says that at the Iowa vs. Penn State game, October 12th, with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff under the lights at Kinnick Stadium, the team is planning a special ceremony to recap the enormous campaign set forth by Carson King in the last nearly 20 days, and "all of the generous support and the impact it will have on pediatric patients and their families".
This has been the feel-good story of the month and we can't wait to see it get better.
As Carson simply said when revealing the final total from his Venmo collection, "We Did It", indeed.
