October is more than just spooky season. Yes, we all get excited about Halloween-themed activities and trick-or-treating, but October is a month to bring awareness to a disease that has impacted us all, breast cancer.

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual bowling event in Iowa will take place to raise money to help two local women. One is fighting breast cancer and the other fighting oral cancer.

Bowling For Boobies And More

For the 9th year, Leisure Lanes (2802 W 73rd St) in Davenport is hosting Bowling For Boobies And More on Saturday, October 21st. This event is to encourage people to create bowling teams for a fun day of raising money for two women battling cancer.

Those that want to sign up to participate in Bowling For Boobies 2023, need to get together a group of 5. The price for teams of 5 is $125 and you can sign up your team by contacting Leisure Lanes. Bowling shifts are at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m..

Who Is The Money Being Raised For?

The two recipients of this year's are Elaine Gordon and Heidi Behning.

Heidi, 47, is from Davenport and is fighting invasive ductal carcinoma, a.k.a. breast cancer. Elaine, 65, was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma, a.k.a. oral cancer. Read more about both women below.

Those are the two women you're bowling for this year.

While the goal is to raise money by bowling for Heidi and Elaine, the members who put this together have great prizes for you to win if you participate and purchase raffle tickets.
