I stopped by my local Arby's for a Beef 'N Cheddar and a Potato Cake yesterday, and was told that the Potato Cake has been discontinued. I wouldn't get one there, but I was told that there are locations that still have them until they run out.

The announcement came at the end of May, but flew past the radar for me and anyone I've brought it up to. The company reportedly decided to silently do away with the cakes.

"Arby’s is constantly evaluating and evolving our menu offering," a representative for Arby's told Thrillist. "Our Curlies have long been a fan favorite, but after many months of R&D and extensive market testing, customers made it clear our all-new Crinkles were a hit, and we had created a true companion on equal footing to its legendary predecessor. Now we have the two best fries in QSR—crinkles and curlies—and they go great together! Although our Potato Cakes have been discontinued (for now), who’s to say they’re gone forever?"

If you don't remember the last time you had a potato cake, here's an awesome 26 second review:

So essentially, they're giving us crinkle cut fries, even though the curly fries are obviously the better, and should be only, choice.

We found a Change.org petition to bring the cakes back. Sign it. Now.

Hopefully Potato Cakes follow the path of many other fast food chain's discontinued fan favorites, like many Taco Bell menu items, or the Spicy McNuggets that still come back to us a few times a year.
