Where Is It Located?

The 61 Drive-In Theatre is just about ready to open for its incredible 71st season! It's located south of Maquoketa on, you guessed it, Highway 61. The exact address is actually 1228 Highway 61 in Delmar. It's about an hour and ten minutes from Cedar Rapids.

When Do They Open?

61 Drive-In has announced that their opening weekend for 2021 is actually next weekend... Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8. If you haven't been to a drive-in for a long time, these days you tune your radio to an FM radio frequency... in this case, it's 88.5 FM.

Which Movies Start The Year?

They'll be debuting the new outdoor movie season with Tom & Jerry and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for teenagers, $5 for kids 4 through 12, with kids 3 and under free. I love the fact they encourage you to bring lawn chairs, a blanket, and a portable radio (don't forget the batteries), so if you make the trip and they're sold out, you can still walk in and find a spot to watch.

I'm still hoping one of these days, we'll get a drive-in theater in Cedar Rapids again. Until then, the 61 Drive-In Theatre has 70 years of history waiting for your family, with more memories to be made soon.
