In case you missed the news last week, Lowell Elementary School in Waterloo is in some trouble after their roof suddenly collapsed on Wednesday due to a build-up of snow. Unfortunately, the school won't be able to reopen until August, which means the nearly 400 students are being relocated to a temporary location. They will resume classes at two AEA 267 buildings in Cedar Falls starting tomorrow.

Because of the roof collapse, another problem has now surfaced. Nobody is allowed into the school, which means teachers and students cannot retrieve any of their school supplies. This is where you can help! The Waterloo Community School District is asking for school supply donations to keep classes running as smooth as possible. According to CBS 2, crayons, glue sticks, dry erase markers, and other supplies can be dropped off at the Education Service Center at 1516 Washington Street in Waterloo weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The other elementary schools in the district are also accepting supplies weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Hopefully, these kids and teachers will be able to get the assistance they need to finish out the school year with as few issues as possible! Read more on the roof collapse HERE.
