American Red Cross Has Urgent Blood Donation Needs

Wondering what you can do to help those in Texas and across approximately 30 states dealing with life-threatening conditions due to weather over the past few weeks? The American Red Cross says they've had to cancel hundreds of blood drives because of the conditions and more than 15,000 platelet and blood donations have gone uncollected.

There's an urgent need now for blood donations from healthy individuals, especially among Type O individuals. It will help ensure needs can be met in emergencies and disasters.

CBS2 says you can make an appointment to give blood now by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting the Red Cross website, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
