A Selfie Museum is Opening Soon in Coralville
A cool new place to take selfies will be opening this month at Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville!
The Influence, the first interactive selfie museum here in the Corridor, is set to open its doors by November 23rd. According to the official website:
"The Influence is an ever-evolving photo experience that is specifically designed to stimulate and nurture everyone's need for creativity and fun through a click of a button! Once you step foot into The Influence you are immediately surrounded by fun, eye-catching, art installations waiting for you to capture the perfect photo."
The photo studio will consist of 19 exhibits that include fun features like neon signs, a sequin wall, pink plastic balls, a moon seat, an inflatable couch, and more. There are even a couple of holiday-themed photo opportunities. You can bring your own camera or phone to use, or you can buy or rent equipment at the museum.
There are different packages put together for birthday parties, sorority/fraternity events, corporate/team building events, and marriage proposals (you can read more on each of those HERE), but The Influencer will also welcome walk-ins for $23.50 per person during normal business hours. There are also memberships you can purchase, as well.
The Influence is owned by 19-year-old University of Iowa student Brittany Postma, who was inspired to bring a selfie museum to Eastern Iowa after visiting one in Chicago. It's a challenging time to open a business thanks to COVID-19, but Brittany wants customers to know that the business is actively following CDC guidelines. Masks are required upon entry, there is a limited occupancy, hand sanitizer is readily available, and the team will clean the museum frequently.
The website says The Influence will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Influence may be the first selfie museum here in the Corridor, but it's actually not the first in the state of Iowa. The Selfie Station opened earlier this year at Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines. You can read more about that museum HERE.
