A small building downtown has seen big renovations recently, as The Map Room prepares to open for business.

"The Map Room is a gathering place for explorers & adventures, inquirers & observers, wanderers & wonderers - for those content to be restless. Storytellers, schemers & dreamers of big things! Oh! And Beer, Booze & Burgers!"

That's the description on the Facebook page of a new Cedar Rapids restaurant called The Map Room. The restaurant is located on 416 3rd St SE in the Armstrong parking lot, and it's a tiny building with a big history. According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, it has "survived the urban renewal and development that has gone on all around it for more than 95 years." The spot has been home to a ton of places, including Grafton Street Pub, O’Maggie’s Pub, Three Cheers, The Alley Inn, and most recently, Stella's.

According to The Gazette, The Map Room will open the 4th of July under the ownership of Christina and Mitch Springman. I've been keeping up to date on the restaurant's Facebook page, which says they will serve lunch, dinner, and drinks. Here's a look at the new place:

Here at the radio station, we're looking forward to the Map Room opening, because it's located right around the corner from us. I'm always looking for great places to stop for lunch! Check out The Map Room on Facebook for updates.
