A Big Tattoo Convention is Happening in Iowa Next Month
If you love tattoos, there's a good chance you'll love the tattoo convention in Des Moines this spring! The 2nd annual Middle of the Map Tattoo Convention is happening at Hy-Vee Hall May 13th through 15th.
According to the event's official website, the Middle of the Map Tattoo Convention will feature over 100 tattoo artists from not just Iowa, but also Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Colorado, Wisconsin, Illinois, Louisiana, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, and more. This year's special guest is Josh Payne, a tattoo artist out of Denver, Colorado who you may recognize as the winner of Ink Master Season 10. His work is INCREDIBLE!
If you're interested in getting tattooed at the convention, event organizers recommend that you PLAN AHEAD. The website reads:
"The show will be full of talented artists with a range of unique styles to choose from. Walk-ins are welcome, but it is highly recommended that you contact the artist of your interest ahead of time to schedule an appointment. Some artists will book the entire weekend before the show begins."
You can contact the artists to book with them directly - check out the full list of featured tattoo artists HERE.
If you're not looking to get tattooed, there will be plenty more to do at the event. The schedule features live tattoo competitions, entertainment, a pinup contest, live glass-blowing, a silent auction, and a fun cosplay element. According to the event page:
"In the spirit of Friday the 13th, the first 50 people to the door dressed in character (cosplay/horror) will get a FREE weekend pass! Additionally, the first 20 individuals dressed in character will also get FREE weekend passes for Des Moines Comic Con"
Tickets for the Middle of the Map Tattoo Convention are on sale now and both day passes and weekend passes are available. You can purchase yours HERE.
